WATER DRAGON PENCIL HOLDER (TEAM 5)
Florence and Katie are investigating ways of getting their Water Dragon sculpture to sit securely onto the Pencil Holder. They may have to investigate other materials for the sculpture to hold its shape ie. Be Fit for Purpose. Prototyping means lots of testing!!
They've come from sketching the dragon digitally as seen below.....
To sketching it in crayon as seen above...

WATER DROPLET TABLE - TEAM 2
Over the past few weeks Hilary, Ryan, Matt, Elliot and I have been designing and creating a Water Droplet inspired table. First we planned and chose the best designs then we got to work. We got hold of some wood and cut out a droplet shape, then I found a tall rounded piece of wood which we cut into thirds and used for the legs. After painting it blue, adding a touch of shading and a rustic look, it was finished!

WATER CHAIR - TEAM 4
Sandesh and I are working on a Water Chair that will have a cushion on the back and will have a thin one as a seat. The back cushion will have three water drop patterns on it so it looks like three giant water drops on a plain blue background. The seat will be curved wood with a thin cushion so it will be softer. We are at the stage where we have finished the prototype and are now starting to work on the base.

DPE - DESIGN PRODUCTION EDUCATION for TEAM 4 WEEK 2
It's only Week 2 of DPE in the Performing Arts suite and our Game Designers Umair, James and Oscar have created 3 INTERACTIVE GAMES inspired by WATER already!
They are using the scratch.mit.edu site to create their games. Checkout the demonstration they gave to the class.

DPE - WATER WATER EVERYWHERE for TEAM 2 (Week 2)
After a week of receiving their Design Briefs Team 2 came back buzzing with ideas to try out. Below we have Yolana and Maia choreographing a dance routine inspired by the behaviour of water.
While Olivia, Julia and Isobel sketched their Solar Power Water Lamp ideas down to every detail....sounds interesting and innovative!
WATER FACT:
What do you know about Water Supply?
There are 3 parts to WATER SUPPLY.....SOURCE/ TREATMENT/ DISTRIBUTION.

DPE - WATER WATER EVERYWHERE for TEAM 1 (Week 2)
Team 1 located sources, generated solutions and some students started to turn their ideas to reality. Below Quinn and Jayvin were testing materials to see if they were Fit For Purpose. It could mean going back to the drawing board and starting again.
Hamish and Benjamin's early stages of a Water Contraption was taking shape and Brock's blueprints of Furniture being sketched to life size scale looked promising.
Lokyee keeps busy calculating measurements for her designs before creating them in DPE Suite 2 with Mr Bailey.
WATER FACT
The human body is 70% water. Every system in our body uses water. Human beings can live several weeks without food, but only a few days without water.

DPE - WATER THEME TEAM 5's FIRST DAY
Friday the last day of Introducing the Water theme.
Here we have Team 5 students joining the other teams in the Design Process. Design Thinking may mean converging old and new ideas in order to come up with a solution.
Students were to create something inspired by water whether it be a dance, a piece of furniture, an ornament or an interactive game. Lots of scope for students to think outside the square!
To start off Team 5 students discussed, brainstormed, planned, emailed experts, researched on the internet and sketched ideas as part of their inquiry.

DPE - WATER THEME TEAM 4's FIRST DAY
On Thursday, Team 4 received their Design Briefs and researched as broadly and deeply to help problem solve the task at hand ie. To design something related to WATER keeping to the presented criteria or constraints.
Below you will find groups working on their Interactive Fish Game or designing their piece of furniture inspired by the shape of a Water Droplet. This called for creative and innovative thinking!

DPE - WATER THEME TEAM 3's FIRST DAY
Today students in Team 3 problem solved and investigated ways of meeting the criteria of their Design Brief. Some emailed experts, some discussed in their teams, researched online and some explored with the Aquarius lent from Capacity Infrastructure Services Limited.
Fact about WATER:
Water evaporates. It travels into the air and becomes part of a cloud. It falls down to the earth as precipitation. Then it evaporates again. This repeats over and over again in a never-ending cycle. This hydrologic cycle never stops. Water keeps moving and changing from a solid to a liquid to a gas, over and over again.

DPE - WATER THEME TEAM 2's FIRST DAY
Today Team 2 researched and investigated the possibilities of how to meet the criteria of their allocated design briefs.
Some were problem solving and finding out how to make a piece of furniture or decor inspired by the shape of a water droplet or how to create a dance that would capture the behaviour of water. Water can flow, cascade, trickle or be incredibly turbulent and dangerous. Water can also be still, glass like and act as a mirror. The Performing Arts suite was buzzing with ideas!
A Fact about Water:
What do you know about the water molecule?
Everything is made up of atoms. An atom is the smallest part of an element, like oxygen or hydrogen. Atoms mix together to form molecules. A water molecule has three atoms: two hydrogen (H) atoms and one oxygen (O) atom. That's why water is sometimes referred to as H2O.

DPE - WATER H20 - THEME - TEAM 1's FIRST DAY
FRESH WATER is PRECIOUS...is a TAONGA. How much is there? Out of all the water on Earth, salt water and saline groundwater make up about 97% and only 2.5–2.75% is fresh water. Water is a critical issue for the survival of all living things.
Let’s celebrate H2O and create things inspired by WATER!!
Today groups were assigned their Design Briefs and started researching, sketching, discussing and role playing their ideas. They are in the early stages of the Design and Filming Process.
Here we have the boys exploring with the Aquarius supplied by Capacity Infrastructure Services - the company who are responsible for supplying us with fresh water to our taps.
FACT about Water H2O -
2% of the water on earth is glacier ice at the North and South Poles. This ice is freshwater and could be melted down. But it is too far away from where people live to be usable.
