DPE New Theme in the Performing Arts Suite

KIAORA EVERYONE!

Firstly I'd like to congratulate you all on a Tu meke! - a fantastic effort on designing, creating and completing your Survivor Island projects and performances in Term 1. Some of you will see your designs/ performances on this blog. Ka mau te wehi - Well done!

Term 2's next theme in the Performing Arts suite will be: PRECIOUS WATER.

FRESH WATER is PRECIOUS...is a TAONGA. How much is there? Out of all the water on Earth, salt water and saline groundwater make up about 97% and only 2.5–2.75% is fresh water. Water is a critical issue for the survival of all living things.

Let’s celebrate water and create things inspired by WATER!!

Could those of you who have selected the Water Theme for Term 2 please read the Learning Centres in the above pages called: Precious Water 1 & 2. You will need to choose one Learning Centre to focus on as your next design project. Feel free to email me over the holidays.

Rm 13's first Dance session

While Mr Bowkett is teaching TE REO every Friday Block 3 1.10 -2.00pm I will be working with Rm 13 in the Performing Arts suite now called DPE Suite 5. Here they explored with locomotor - eg. running, stomping, skipping etc and non-locomotor - eg. bending, the robot, pin-drop or on the spot moves and then were to end with a simple shape sculpture! This group took on the challenge of doing their OWN version of the infamous non-locomotor move - twerking!

Rm 13's first Dance session

Rm 13 worked and explored with locomotor, non-locomotor moves and simple shape sculptures. After 10-15 minutes this group came up with a very very short routine!

Rm 13's first Dance session

Boys can do anything! I love watching what the boys come up with in their selection of moves in a rouitne. They tend to explore more ....some moves quite unconventional. Again more locomotor and non locomotor moves in this group, ending with an entertaining simple shape sculpture!
