                 ELEMENTS OF DRAMA

(Ministry of Education NZ Curriculum Document)

The key ingredients of drama:

Role - Involves stepping into the place of another person, representing that person's relationships and point of view.

Time - Is when the drama was set.

Space - Is where the dramatic action takes place. It can be the imagined place of the dramatic action and the space that you have to work in.

Action - Is what each person is doing and thinking, alone and with others. It's what happens in the drama.

Tension - Is the force that drives the drama. It's created by obstacles or problems that those in the drama have to overcome. Tension heightens the dramatic intensity and creates suspense or unease.

Focus
1)Is the point that demands the audience's attention.
2)A moment in time that captures the dramatic action.
3)Refers to your concentration on the work.
